Potrero Launch
2235 Third Street

Multifamily Residential, Historic Renovations

San Francisco

2012

Project Details

Two new midrise buildings were constructed around two restored historic masonry structures to create a unique juxtaposition, a lush courtyard and a connection between pedestrian friendly streets.

The Potrero Launch development is Martin Building Company’s largest residential project to-date, encompassing approximately 1.25 acres in San Francisco’s Central Waterfront-Dogpatch neighborhood. Featuring 196 studio, one, two and three bedroom residential units, this six-story mixed-use infill development is comprised of two historic brick warehouses on Third Street and new buildings on Third and Illinois Streets between 19th and 20th, with four ground floor retail / office spaces that include on-site child care center, Potrero Kids Third and San Francisco-based craft brewery, Triple Voodoo.

The building’s abundant oversized windows provide most residences with spectacular Bay and city views, and make the façade a beautiful presence on the Illinois streetscape. Terracotta panels alongside bold window units create a striking façade on Third Street. Inside, distinct finishes combine historic character with contemporary urban design through the blending of raw materials (concrete, wood) and refined finishes (steel, glass).

Unique features include a striking entrance lobby with soaring glass walls, an elaborate courtyard, landscaped rooftop with a sun deck and custom spa, social lounge with a demonstration kitchen, and an ultra-modern fitness studio with adjoining yoga studio and open-air Zen garden. With its many green features, including almost 18,500 square feet of usable open space, Potrero Launch is a LEED™ Gold-Certified residential project.
